New features take MoreFrom.Me to a whole new level

It's been eight months since we launched MoreFrom.Me, it seems like less.  We've added some great new features since the launch, so I wanted to do a quick recap. These are the things you can change to fully personalise your store:

Edit Theme > Change Theme Colours
Choose to have a site without a white header background. By default all sites have a white background behind your name or logo, but you can choose to remove it. This also removes the MoreComputers.com 'lines' design, to create a more minimalist look. Make the background of your logo transparent to get the full effect. More Details

Edit Theme > Add/Change Background Image
Instead of picking a colour for your site's background, you can use an image. Using a background image will automatically remove the white header background mentioned above. More Details

About Me
You can add your own text to the 'About Us' page of your MoreFrom.Me. Tell people a little bit about yourself or your company. You can also add a link to another website on this page and choose to show the link below your name in your site header. More Details

My Recommended
Recommending products is at the heart of MoreFrom.Me. Go to any product page, click 'add to My Recommended' and you start to build a list of products that can be displayed on your homepage. Choose to display 4, 8, 12, 16 or 20 recommended products. More Details

My Reviews
A quick product review is a great thing to share and gives people a reason to visit your MoreFrom.Me. Your reviews take pride of place on your site. They're visible on the products you choose for your homepage and they'll be right at the top of the page for that product. More Details

Products
This is where you get to curate your own store. You decide which of our 140,000 products from 700 brands you sell. Don't let that put you off it's easier than it sounds, you simply pick and mix the categories and brands that appear on your MoreFrom.Me. Great if you want to set up a specialist shop. More Details

Prices
One of the unique things about MoreFrom.Me is how you can change your prices to earn more commission. You always get the standard 1% but you can earn up to 13.5%. More Details

Custom Domain
You can have your MoreFrom.Me running on your own domain name (i.e. yourname.com). Or if you already have a website you can add a subdomain (i.e. shop.yourname.com). More Details

You can make a very individual store with these features and we plan to develop more and more. If you have anything you'd like to see please send us some feedback. 

Pick your categories & Pick your brands

This feature really does open up your MoreFrom.Me store to a whole new level of personalisation.

For some people 140,000 products and 700 brands is just too much choice. There may be some categories you don't want to include in your store or there maybe some brands you simply wouldn't recommend because you've had a bad experience with them. Our 'Products' feature lets you streamline the products you offer.

Here's some examples:

You may be a CCTV specialist and only want to list CCTV products on your site.

Or you may want a Camera site that sells everything except that brand you hate.

Pick your categories

You can now pick which of our 30 categories you want to appear in your left hand menu - instantly focusing your shoppers on certain areas. Or, if it's easier, pick which of the 30 you don't want to appear.

Pick your brands

As well as being able to fine tune your categories list, you can also make changes to the list of brands you sell in the same way. You can choose to only sell certain brands, by picking up to 10 brands from our list. Or choose to not sell certain brands, by removing up to 10 them from our list.

You can also have a combination of these category and brand options.

If you customise the categories or brands, the homepage menu graphics will disappear, as they are no longer be relevant to your store. We therefore suggest you pick your own products for your homepage using the My Recommended list. The left hand menu will still show all the categories you have selected. Combining these two features allows you to create a very unique looking store!

Find in My Account
Log in to your 'My Account' and go to the 'Manage your MoreFrom.Me' area. In the menu on the lefthand side, under features, click on the 'Products' link. From here you can set the combination of categories and brands you require.

New ways to personalise your MoreFrom.Me

We've introduced some new ways to make your MoreFrom.Me even more individual. You can now add a background image or photo to your site instead of just a colour. Plus to see more of that background you can remove the white background box that currently appears behind your name.

These new options can be found by logging in to your account and clicking through to the manage your MoreFrom.Me area. In the left hand menu you'll see the 'Edit Theme' option. Click this and you get to all the functions you need to change the look of your MoreFrom.Me

Change Theme Colours
Along with changing the background, accent and title colour you can now choose to remove the 'background detail' (the grey lines that form part of the MoreComputers design). You can also remove the 'White Header Background' this allows your background colour or image to show through behind your name or logo.

Add/Change Logo
Our example sites look extra good because we've made the backgrounds of our logos transparent, this lets the logo sit nicely on top of the background image. To get this effect you'll need to save your logo file with a transparent background. Save your logo as transparent .gif or  a 24 bit .png file with the transparent option selected. Logos need to be a maxium 450 x 90 pixels.


Add/Change Background Image
This is a new section where you can pick any image, photo or wallpaper and make it the main background for every page of your MoreFrom.Me. As a guide, use an image around 1920 pixels wide, but play around with different images and sizes until you get the look you want. The image will be centered behind the site content. Your image can be as tall as you like and the background colour you choose will show where the image ends at the bottom of your site. You can upload .jpg, .gif or .png files up to a maximum of 600k - It's worth running your background through a web image optimisation tool if you can.

Custom Domains - New Feature

The ability to use your own domain is something you MoreFrom.Me-ers have asked for since we launched and I'm glad to say it can now be done.

It's taken some doing but the development team have come up trumps once again, so you can now have your MoreFrom.Me running on your own domain name (i.e. yourname.com). Or if you already have a website you can add a subdomain (i.e. shop.yourname.com).

If you're familiar with domain and DNS admin you'll have no problem swapping over, if you're not, the problem is every domain registrar has their own way of doing things, so it can get a bit tricky. Take a look at the details we give on the Custom Domain page, if any of it looks too complicated we recommend getting a techie friend to help you. We'd like to help, but we can't know exactly how the many different registrars work, so you will have to speak to them if you hit any problems. When you've told us the name of your domain, all we need to do is add it to our database, your registrar does the rest.

Don't let that put you off, it's not a big job at all, just a case of copying the right details into the right boxes in most cases.

Use your own domain

Find in My Account

Log in to your 'My Account' and go to the 'Manage your MoreFrom.Me' area. In the menu on the lefthand side, under features, click on the 'Custom Domain' link. Enter your domain name then click the 'Use this domain' button. You'll then be given the details you need to make a change with your domain registrar.

Please note only one domain can be linked to your MoreFrom.Me in this way. If you'd like to use additional domains you will need to forward them to the domain you submit. Your registrar may offer domain forwarding and redirecting.
